No Pai in the sky, this

In three years, Future City Chandigarh could be exporting Rs 1,000 crore worth of software, says TV Mohandas Pai, member of the board and chief financial officer (CFO) of Infosys. He adds that 2006 will be the year of Chandigarh.

It could take Infosys another two months to occupy its premises at the upcoming Chandigarh Technology Park. "We plan to eventually have up to 10,000 professionals here. We are not yet decided on the status of our Mohali facility but we are excited about Chandigarh," says Pai. He adds that housing will soon emerge as a major issue in Chandigarh when all the IT professionals that Infosys hires start looking around for accommodation.

Also, Chandigarh is going to change phenomenally as thousands of high-paid young professionals start making it their home base, says Pai.
