Infosys Takes Outsourcing To Next Level

India's Infosys Technologies (INFY) is riding the crest of the offshore outsourcing wave all the way to Wall Street, with plans to transfer 16 million shares of its stock to the Nasdaq exchange early next year.

Founded in 1981, Infosys helped pioneer business process outsourcing.

The company offers services to build, maintain, test and host business software. It also provides systems integration and consulting services.

This year Infosys launched a new U.S.-based consulting team in Fremont, Calif. That unit, dubbed Infosys Consulting, will rely on low-cost staff in India to process and analyze data while higher priced consultants in the U.S. are still sleeping.
