Infosys, TCS to hire @125 techies a day

Domestic software services and BPO majors are cranking up their hiring engines for the next nine months of the current fiscal.

The top two vendors, TCS and Infosys , will together hire 33,000 employees in the remaining period of this fiscal. That is, approximately 125 people a day in a 25-day working month.

Basab Pradhan quits Infosys to float his own

A senior official of software major Infosys Technologies Basab Pradhan has quit the company to float his own firm.

The US-based Pradhan, a Senior Vice-President heading worldwide sales, is the second senior official in Infosys to put in his papers in recent times, after Senior Vice-President for Human Resources Development Hema Ravichandar.

Confirming Pradhan's resignation, a company spokesman told UNI that he would be floating his own organisation.

Flood alert: Infosys closes Pune centre

Infosys Technologies Ltd and Wipro Technologies shut their development centres in Pune on Tuesday following a flood alert by the local administration.

"In view of the flood warning issued by the Pune District Collector, we have closed our development centres in Pune with effect from 12.30 p.m. on July 26," Infosys said in a statement.

Premji throws punch at rival Infosys - Wipro chairman claims superior organisation structure

Corporate rivals don’t usually admire each other but few say so in public. Azim Premji proved an exception, if fleetingly.

The Wipro chairman took an uncharacteristic swipe at Infosys today while reporting the company’s first quarter performance.

“I think our (organisation) structure is superior to the Infosys global delivery model,” he said in reply to a question.

Infosys all set to recruit 13,500 pros

Continuing its hiring spree, software major Infosys on Tuesday said it would recruit 13,500 more employees in the next nine months of the current fiscal.

"Infosys will add 13,500 more employees across the globe in the next nine months," company Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Managing Director S Gopalakrishnan told reporters.

He said the addition would include 7,000 more employees in the second quarter.

Infosys Q1 sees gains in banking services, BPO

Infosys on Tuesday announced a $90m account, its biggest so far. This is an old account which has scaled to the current size. Infy officials declined to divulge the name of the client, which market sources said was Telstra.

At the Q1 FY06 results press conference here, company COO, S Gopalakrishnan, said that Infosys now has 14 clients in $50m plus category, up from 10 year ago. Infosys is also said to be close to winning a large multi-million, multiple year deal, its biggest so far, from ABN Amro. Company officials besides stating that negotiations with the client were on, refused to comment on the size of the deal or its expected closure.

Infosys reports 37% revenue jump

Technology bellweather Infosys Technologies Ltd on Tuesday reported lower than expected earnings for the first quarter of 2005-06 at Rs 531.92 crores, up 36.97 per cent year-on-year.

The company reported a rise in revenues by 36.52 per cent to Rs 2,071.59 crores. Though, the company raised its guidance, marginally, for the full year, the stock markets were not enthused, resulting in Infosys shares losing 4.12 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange, or BSE, on Tuesday to close at Rs 2,219.95.
