Infosys Q2 results on Oct 11

The board of directors of Infosys Technologies will meet on October 11, 2005 to consider the audited results of the second quarter ended September 30, 2005.

According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, the meeting will also consider payment of interim dividend.

The company has fixed October 18, 2005 as the record date for the payment of interim dividend, if any, approved by the board meeting, the release added.

Infosys airlifts staff to safety

Hurricane Rita, which is rushing towards Texas, has made Infosys in faraway Bangalore to go into high alert. Infosys flew in ahead of Rita and evacuated its employees in Houston to safer places.

Even as Rita sped past the Gulf Coast, most of Houston received the evacuation alert and this clogged the roads. As a result, airlifting its employees was one option that Infy had which ensured their safety.

The company arranged a chartered jet to airlift 86 employees and their families to safety. A core group at Infosys has constantly been working round-the-clock to manage the 'operation evacuation'.

Shibulal is new Infosys global sales head

S D Shibulal, director and co-founder, Infosys Technologies, has been given the responsibility of global sales head after Basab Pradhan quit the company recently.
A spokesperson for Infosys confirmed the development. Shibulal has served as a director at Infosys from 1984 to 1991 and, thereafter, since November 1996. From 1981 to 1991, Shibulal worked for Infosys in the US on projects in manufacturing and retail industries.

Infosys is on a big building spree

India's technology behemoth Infosys Technologies is building software solutions from across the country with brick and mortar at a scorching pace.

To meet the mounting demand for space, Infosys is rapidly expanding its development centres across India.

Currently, Infosys has 68,99,450 sq. ft. of space with 33,111 seats in India. But company officials say Infosys is now so strapped for space that it is feverishly building an additional space 31,76,400 sq. ft. at its various development centres in the country.

TCS, Infosys win large ABN IT deal

Indian software giants Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies have won large multi-million-dollar outsourcing contracts from Dutch bank ABN AMRO.

TCS and Infosys will do more than application maintenance at ABN -- the two are among five vendors also selected for application development, along with India's Patni Computer Systems, IBM and Accenture.

The outsourcing deals could see thousands of ABN jobs cut.
